Excuse my mood, but I got home from class to a sweltering house because my air conditioning unit isn't working. Mind you it's brand new but maintenance was tinkering with it today and god knows what they did to it, but they now cannot fix it until morning. Whatever happened to the old adage: if it ain't broke don't fix it? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

As I said in class, this quote reminds me of a scene in the movie Parenthood when the grandmother says "some people like to ride the merry-go-round, but it just goes round and round, I like the rollercoaster, it goes up and down and is always exciting".
I'd kill for the merry-go-round this week but I guess this is all part of the roller coaster effect for now.

Isn't our life a ferris wheel...it goes up and it goes down....Just like our teaching- we have ups and downs...like today was an up day...my special child who was evaluated at a low reading level was scored 8/10 on a Reading test-although with accommodations but the fact he was able to understand the question as I read it to him and was able to select the correct choice. That made me beam all afternoon! Yesterday was a down day...my students were caught screaming the restroom by the assistant principal..UGH! That sure made my day!

ReplyDeleteMy appeal was definitely the roller coaster! I'd like to believe I'm one of those who chose the roller coaster over the merry-go-round. I'd love the merry-go-round sometime soon...just for a week. ;-) For now, I'll get on this roller coaster, and while I'm on it...let's raise our arms in the air and make the best of it all!!!
