Differentiated Learning

If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.
Ignacio Estrada

As teachers, it is vital that we realize that not all children learn alike. Since a child’s learning varies so must the approach of teaching. Learning is as different as the child is. It is up to us to meet the child’s needs and reach his or her greatest potential in order to have success.

Andrew and I had a productive session today since we will not be attending class on Wednesday. I am helping some National Junior Honor Society students who are deficient in service hours. They will be reading tutors to some first grade students after school hours. Although I will not be attending class, I am tutoring and still involved in Literacy.

  1. This is the earliest that you have blogged! I'm going to miss your company today, but the service that you are doing for NJHS is a worthwhile cause. Take Care and see you next week!

  2. Good for you for not only opening your classroom to help students for service hours, but for making those service hours all about reading! You helped not just Andrew this week with literacy but SEVERAL students! Way to go!

  3. Ahhh...the days of NJHS. Thanks for that little blast to the past - I was very active in NJHS and NHS back in the day ;-). Missed you and Andrew. Class was still noisy, but not complete without the whole gang!

The quote says it all about studies that continue to grow on the aspect of the ways of learning constantly growing and changing. It is not the learner who should change but the teaching that should change for the learner. It is not how smart one is, but how one becomes smart...I remember hearing this in undergrad with Dr. Kallingal and the Multiple Intelligences.
Have a GREAT EASTER BREAK!!! See you soon.
