Very mature graduate students.....

"The secret of success is constancy to purpose." Benjamin Franklin

Set your sights on your goal and stick to it. There will be bumps along the way, but perseverance will pay off! Stay on target!

What a great session tonight! Nathaniel performed better than ever! He is reading his word lists with great accuracy. Last semester he only read 9 words out of 20 correctly for the 6th grade level...tonight he read 19! His comprehension skills are improving too. I feel the Think Aloud strategy is really paying off and he loves doing the Zoom-In strategy. Tonight he needed very little prodding from me on what to fill in on the zoom-in worksheet. I am exhausted but so pleased with the success of the session tonight.

The laughs were plentiful tonight too and that's what I love most about Wednesday nights. Everyone is so dedicated to their student but so laid back as well....that makes for a wonderful comfort level! I still haven't heard back from the spouse who called me. I think she'll either never call me again or is busy filling out an application to graduate school at UOG because it sounded like fun!

See you all on Saturday!

  1. I'm glad that Nathaniel is improving. I do know from our conversation on the way home this evening that he's in a higher level of math in Direct Instruction which will make him take regular middle school math when he goes in the 6th grade. He does need to carry more conversations with anyone and everyone about any subject which will probably help a bit. Way to go!

  2. The spouse must have been shocked! More than sure she was applying for graduate studies...lol. Love Cef and his craziness! We surely are 'mature graduate students'...who knows how to have some fun and enjoy the 'roller coaster'. I'm so glad to be with this bunch! It's my best semester yet! Your progress with Nathaniel sounds so uplifting! He sounds like he'll be moving along with a wide range of strategies. You are giving him such a great advantage with a growing repertoire of strategies, especially for his adolescent times to come in middle school. I love hearing and seeing progress. You can tell by how I ran around the room with Donovin's read aloud success!

THANKS FOR THE B-DAY SURPRISE!!! My family enjoyed the cake. Mother-in-law tried some, and it's her NEW FAVORITE dessert. The laughs were great!

  3. I'm glad that Nathaniel is moving up with his reading. It is evident that he is very comfortable with the class as he has opened up to me several times. He has a wonderful teacher! I didn't mean to so loud. I just get very excited easily. I'm so glad that I have a bunch of wonderful classmates. Take Care!
