"The greatest sign of a success for a teacher...is to be able to say, "The children are now working as if I did not exist." -- Maria MontessoriI love this quote because it goes straight to the heart. When our students become so independent that they no longer need us by their sides, it reminds us of our purpose and philosophies. Donovin is at that point where he's practicing strategies and remembering these approaches to reading with little help from me. He has used this line a million times yesterday during our session, "No, no don't tell me...wait...I can do it...it's...". I'm so proud of him! His mom says she's proud of us both!!! That made me near tears!!!
I MISSED YOU ALL TODAY!!! THE MEETING WENT GREAT. A FEW DETAILS TO BE REVIEWED AND A DECISION WILL BE IN PLACE. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND NEVER ENDING CONCERNS! IT MEANS A LOT!!!
I too like the quote! I hope the final answer is what you hope it to be Sheila! See you next week.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the quote? I love it! I was at the Special Olympics on Saturday that was held at Okkodo High School. I met my student from my very first year of teaching. That was 9 years ago. He is now a freshman attending GW. I shook his hand and couldn't believe how tall he grew. His mother told everyone around me that he could read because of me. The quote reminded me of this moment. Take Care!
ReplyDeleteThat quote is so Montessori...isn't is all about a child's exploration of the world aroung him/her..I read once that teachers are only facilitators in the classroom, the children are the ones leading the learning...great quote!
ReplyDeleteCount me in on loving the quote you chose. It reminds me of ME! I am always having students staying on task and diligently working(as if!).
